At Kalundborg Refinery, we are aware that our activities affect our surroundings, and we therefore have a strong focus on running the refinery in an environmentally responsible manner. Every year, we publish a sustainability report documenting our social, safety and environmental performance, as well as significant events from
the year.

New heat exchangers installed in 2024 is expected to give a yearly CO₂ saving of up to 3,000 tonnes.

The refinery’s energy efficiency is calculated as an index number. In 2024 the energy index was at 80.3 EII.

Kalundborg Refinery is amongst the top 10 refineries with the lowest CO₂ emissions in terms of complexity and production.
Did you know that we are part of Kalundborg Symbiosis? The symbiosis gives us access to biomethane, flue gas condensate, and cooling as well as boiler feed water.
