This year the award went to Fællesskabets Hus in Høng - a social-friendly volunteer association, with its values of trust, respect and helpfulness as foundation work toward creating sustainable relations and strong communities for everyone in the municipality.
"Fællesskabets Hus in Høng is a shining example of how you strengthen unity in a local environment. Here, there is a space for everyone, and the house manages to build bridges between people, regardless of background. Their work with MadBanken Høng is an inspiring example of how volunteer work, social responsibility and sustainability can go hand in hand," Mayor and head of the award committee, Martin Damm, said as he revealed the recipient of the award.
MadBanken Høng – a warm community and battle against food waste
Fællesskabets Hus in Høng manages, amongst other things, MadBanken Høng, where volunteers daily collect left over food from supermarkets and food manufacturers and deliver it, for free, to families, youth, the elderly and other citizens that need a helping hand.
MadBanken does not just create access to healthy and nutritional food, but also a warm community, where volunteers and recipients meet and cooperate in making a difference. The initiative contributes to increased consciousness on sustainability and resource utilisation and builds bridges between people in Høng and its surroundings.
Fællesskabets Hus – a place where everyone belongs.
Fællesskabets Hus in Høng is a comforting and capacious meeting point, where new relations and strong communities arise through activities like film clubs, workshops, communal meals, cultural events and much more. Here, volunteering and presence go hand in hand, and everyone contributes with what they can. The house works actively to include everyone – regardless of personal challenges – and strengthens unity in town.
"We are extremely proud and honoured to have received the Condensate Award. The award is a recognition of the great work, our volunteers put into creating a community where everyone is met with respect, warmth and a smile. We believe that alone we can do a little – but together we can do much more," the board of Fællesskabets Hus in Høng says.
